VEMBE BIOSPHERE RESERVE COMPETITION (HRS RESULTS)
The Vhembe Biosphere Reserve organization held its first annual public speaking, creative arts and debate competitions on 28 October at the Thohoyandou sports centre – and Holy Rosary was there to make an impactful appearance.
The school was represented by nine-learner team of Holy Rosary’s public speakers and debate enthusiasts. Five other talented creative also submitted plastic-recycling inspired work of arts for the creative arts portion of the competition.
In summary, the team brought home five silver and gold medals (with four of those from debating and public speaking and one for creative arts) and managed to bag the trophy for best school in public speaking!
Although the event was held as a competition, the VBR organization also raises awareness about environmental issues like climate change and pollution and this competition was a way of getting surrounding schools to participate in conserving the planet. Holy Rosary will also be participating in the “#youtrashmytreasurechallange”, a plastic collecting challenge also held by VBR later this November,
